what and interesting day............ohhh bugger...
that's just succhhh a random title. i'm toooooo bummed to think of a relevant title though, so what the helllll
so anyway, what's up with me, eh??
nothin much...just can't really find the time to blog, that is.
uni life is rather interesting i must say. not that there's much of a difference between this and SAM. but i keep thinking, if first year is like this.....WHAT'S SECOND YEAR LIKE????

so anyhoo, i'm proud to announce that i'm starting to turn a lil weeee bit nerdy. to all who know me, i've never studied wayyyyy ( if 2 weeks is considered wayyyy) before an exam in the past. and now i have. *GASP GASP*
today is officially my second day since i decided to start studying, and already i'm feeling the drain.
oh, and let's not forget my assignment that is due 7 days after my exam and how much work THAT assignment would take.
there's that whole research thingamajigie, and then there's the whole library issue as well. library issues such as borrowing books, lugging those thick thick books around, and browsing through them, desperate for information. darn it. and worst thing is, i may have to carry books from the medical faculty AND law faculty.
has anyone ever been into the law library and medical library here at monash??

all the books there are sooooo extremely super de duper thick!!!!!!!
but nvm lah u know. mommy says i have to always look at the bright side of things. so hmmm....whhhaattt would be the silver lining in this assignment of mine?? oh yeaa...to work out by carrying BOOKS. mommy would be soooo proud. =P

every fortnight, we have a tutorial called stakeholder tutorials. basically ppl are seperated in to tutorial groups, and each of these groups get to meet, what we call, the stakeholder.
in tutorials as such, we get to meet victims/sufferers/advocates/doctors/parents/......
well, basically we meet people who have experience or have something to do with the topic for that day. for instance, when we were doing about asbestos-related diseases for sociology, we had a guy who was suffering from the disease to come see us, and with him, was an advocate who started a society to increase awareness for diseases like this.
the guy was pretty nice, although he had to walk about with a cane and had to lug around an oxygen tank that was placed upon a trolley. there were loads of tubes connected to his body and i felt really bad as i watched him make an effort to come talk to us. he gasped a lot while talking to us, but he seemed jolly and cheerful anyhow. nice guy nice guy.
the purpose of this tutorial is to basically enable us to relate to what we consider as the closest thing to our case study. it helps in a way, as it's more practical and not so theory-like. just by having them come and talk to us, you get the typical wham in the face as u realize the reality of it. and most of the time, i find myself thinking, DAMN man....this is ACTUALLY happening. realization. key point.
this week, i had an HIV patient and an AIDS sufferer to come see us and give us a talk. really really touching the things they said. and the most surprising thing is, u CANNOT even tell that they were sufferers. pretty amazing, huh? but let me tell you.....they do suffer a lot, although it's not physically obvious. the amount of drugs they take a day, and the lack of energy in them....it's kinda hard ya know. they related to us on how they got the disease, and what happened after they did.
it's never surprising if you find one or two students crying during these tutorials.
well, at least trying to refrain from crying...=P
