HAHAH!

where you mainly inject into the vein to draw blood or insert drugs..
so yea..
imagine medical students all trying it for the first time.
so who better to test it on, than ourselves?!?!?!?!??! and mind you, it IS part of the curricular. everyone HAS to jab each other during the practicals. no excuses..
but we get to practice with the model first lahh

first we all took turns with the model, which is basically a fake arm with a tube running within it, and a pump to pump blood in and out.
and after soooo darn many pokes and punctures, the model gave up and started bleeding profusely. literally.
there was 'blood' (coloured dye) all over the table and we had to use cloths and stuff to keep it dry

and since there were so many arms about and we did have practice, so why not try on LIVE models, eh?
hahah..it's pretty cool coz ppl were excited and already practising on live models even BEFORE the practicals. and it's not easy looking and feeling for the veins...unless it protrudes out, then that makes it DAMNNN easy..hehhe

so we had to make full use of our arms to maximize withdrawal of blood, hence jabbing from the distal (further) part of the arms first. (if you were to take a few samples, you usually go up the arm, not down)

so yalah!
everyone was asking everyone to be their models.

i jabbed in total 4 ppl, 2 punctures on one person, making a total of 5 holes i created.
successfully drew blood from 4 of them, so yay!!

i got jabbed 5 times, NONE of which the people manage to draw blood from.
hahaah
apparently my veins at the antecubital (the area on the inner part of the arm, parallel to the elbow) are so darn hard to find and can't be placed, and so i got jabbed 4 times on the back of the hand, and once at the wrist area, but still no blood.
the technique and everyting was right, but it seemed like i was stinging on blood today

and it's quite painful ok
especially when i have low pain tolerance..
but oh well
i didn't mind

it's only fair to jab and to be jabbed

i think this is my very first enjoyable prac!!(other than dissections and stuff)

oooh, i can't wait for the breast examination practical!! it's gonna be interestingggggggg
(and no, we're not using live models this time..but we'll see if there's anyone who's willing to offer themselves up to me..HAHAH!!!!)
