my first time

ok.
before minds run off anywhere, it was my first time working at a job yesterday.
yes, kick my ass and call me a spoilt brat, but i have NEVER worked in my life.

and yesterday would be a lame definition for work, but it IS work!! and only because i'm being paid in exchange for manpower. heh :P so it was my FIRST time being paid by someone other than my parents...

anyway, the job was all about monash university's info day.
it's kinda like an open day for interested parents and possible-future students to just come over, have a talk with the counselor and generally check out the new campus that they are so damn bloody proud of ..

so we started "work" at about 8, but only REALLY STARTED at 9 + am, where streams of parents and teenage kids walked in.
ok, revise.
i wouldn't say stream.
i'd say... drops of water from taps.
there weren't THATTT many ppl, surprisingly, but there WERE enough to keep all of us busy!!

our duties (as student helpers) are mainly that.
helpers who are students;
and ppl who help students.

we guide the parents and children to the general counselor and if they're interested, we give them a personalized tour of the whole new campus.
it's pretty funny, coz we had a briefing about it, and we were told what exactly it is that should be pointing out, and how monash is so proud of their bla bla bla.. -_-"

i mean, the commentary-tour thing was mainly for publicity purposes, i think.

but you know i think some ppl actually might wanna know, and some might not even care. like when i talked about the neuroscientist in monash, no one asked further questions and no one said WOW.

but ok, generally, it'd give an overall impression that monash do house very capable ppl but mostly it just shows that we're using him as a publicity stint. -_-"
hahah, most of the ppl just listened and smiled, but one lady was quick to point out that he is being used by monash for publicity sake (and for his research as well)

oh well, but it IS cool that he is based in monash though don't u think?
he's got an animal place as well for his speciments.
"his mice are cleaner that you" (????, 2007)

so anyhow, i walked around campus a total of about...10 times
-_-"
no kidding

all the while explaining the same things to different sets of ppl.
but i did enjoy my job though.
i talked for about an hour or so to one particular family, whose daughter was very interested in medicine (although only in form 4)..
me and the dad were exchanging experiences about when we were each studying overseas!
ahhaha..pretty cool dad i'd say.

and parents kept asking me about the med course -_-"
so i think i explained my view of things about 3 times.

i saw rachel later on in the afternoon!!!
HAHAHAH!!!
YOU LOOK THE SAMEEEE!!!! only with a SUPER STYLE HAIRSTYLE wehh!!!
wanted to try that style out, but was too chicken :(
hahahah

and then i saw a friend of my dad's.
he was looking for me, but didn't know my name, didn't know what i looked like(i think we've only seen each other 2-3 times) and basically tak tau saya langsung larrrhhh
so he described me to my friend as
1) mr ho's daughter
2) short
3) in aussie last year
4) monash med 2nd year

and shantz came running to me saying that daddy's friend was looking for me.
LOL!!!!!!!!!
but i knew who he was though..
don't know how.. LOL!

and while recapping the incident to my dad

sw: ohh..i saw uncle AAA yesterday at the info day
dad: ohhh??? how come??
sw: he was looking for mr Ho's daughter and didn't know my name or anything lah..my fren came and told me and i went to look for him after that.
dad: eh? how come your friend know's you're mr ho's daughter?
sw: coz my surname says so whattttt.
dad: how come your friend knows your surname??
sw: -_-" everybody knows everybody's surname lahh..and plus i'm the only Ho in med year 2. and he also said that i was short, so she knew loh..

my dad burst out laughing when i said short.
-_-"

and had a face that read... "your friend could identify that it was YOU that uncle AAA was talking about ONLY because he described you as being short."

IMPLYING...that my vertically challenged body is more well-known than my surname.
-_-"

haha..but he doesn't know, that he has also got them both

the surname

and the shortness factor.

so HAH!!!

:P:P:P
